Waves of runners start every 15 minutes. Simply select your preferred starting time when you sign up. Only you know your physical capabilities, and it is your responsibility to decide if you are able to complete the course obstacles. Runners can skip any obstacle which they feel is too challenging.

What should I bring to the run?
Bring your signed waiver. And wear appropriate clothes- you are going to be a mess by the time you finish. Seriously. Shoes are required, and they will get really muddy.
Participants are welcome to wear any kind of costume. You may bring your own bottled water, however, plenty of water will be provided at the finish line. Beer, food and beverages will be available for purchase in the party area. You cannot bring alcohol or weapons. All coolers and bags are subject to inspection.
Also, be sure to print out and complete the waiver. This will definitely make check-in much faster.
What about the costumes?
Costumes are certainly not required but we will give awards out for Best Male, Best Female and Best Team costumes. If you are running with a team simply make sure you all sign up for the same starting time.
What if it rains?
The race will not be cancelled for rain. If there's lightning, we'll delay until it passes. If there's severe weather that prevents the event from being held at all on Saturday, it'll be moved to Sunday.
Are there refunds?
Unfortunately, we cannot issue refunds for 5k The Hard Way. The logistics of setting up and planning the event make it impossible. Just make sure you are good to go before signing up. However, you can transfer your registration to someone else.
How do I transfer my registration to another person?
Go to myevents.active.com and login to your account. Choose the option “Transfer registration to another athlete” and then enter the email address of the person you are transferring it to. Or click on the link in your registration confirmation email that says “transfer to someone else” and it will prompt you to put the email address in for the person you are transferring it to. Once they claim their registration, it will refund your payment (minus the $3.95 processing fee that active.com keeps) and ask the person receiving the transfer to pay the registration cost. Transferring will be available up until a week before the race.
